Deadly Shooting In Mississippi Church Service

(Ripley, MS) — A man is dead after an argument during a Mississippi church service turned into a fight, then a shooting. It happened in Ripley, a small town about an hour and-a-half southeast of Memphis, Tennessee. Local news media report the son-in-law of the preacher at West Ripley Church of Christ got into an argument with a constable who is a member of the congregation. The 57-year-old son-in-law reportedly attacked the constable, who shot him in self-defense. The constable is a county law enforcement officer and just ran unopposed for re-election.
