Memphis Police officers opened fire on an an armed man in the Hickory Hill area Tuesday morning. The suspect was hit in the 3300 block of Ridgeway, but was arrested and jailed after being treated for the wound. Officers encountered the man they say was carrying a gun. The man refused lawful commands to put down the weapon. MPD not releasing any further details about the encounter, but they do confirm that one officer has been placed on routine administrative leave, pending the investigation.
