A new COVID-19 testing facility is available in DeSoto County. The state health department opened the facility on Monday after a plea from DeSoto County leaders to help with the growing surge in cases. As it was, wait times to get a test in DeSoto County had grown to as much as eight hours. The seven day rolling average of new cases per day is now up to 141 in DeSoto County. The new tetsing site is at the county health department at 3212 Highway 51 in Hernando. Hours of operation will be weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. You must make an appointment to get a test by calling 601-496-7200.
