Shelby County COmmissioner Van Turner has launched an exploratory committee to delvbe into a possible run for mayor of Memphis. Current Mayor Jim Strickland is term limited and cannot run again. Tuner, meanwhile, is a local attorney and president of ther NAACP Memphis Branch. He said this was NOT an announcement of candidacy… only that he is exploring the idea. Up next will be to form a team to begin surveying neighborhoods to hear directly from citizens.
