Shelby County To Eliminate More Polling Locations

The Shelby County ELection Commission has decided to eliminate more voting precincts. In fact, Shelby County will have 30 fewer voting precincts for the upcoming May primary election. The commission says the move will save taxpayer money. There will be 134 voting locations to serve more than a half million registered voters in the county. Many leaders have voiced strong criticism over the move, fearing that it will make it harder for minorities and the underserved – to vote. In contrast, Shelby County once had 255 polling locations just a few years ago.
