Memphis Area Lawmakers Ask For Gasoline Tax Halt

Some West Tennessee lawmakers are speaking out about a proposal to halt the state’s gas tax temporarily. The proposal has been floated as a way to provide relief to consumers amid skyrocketing gasoline prices. State Representatives Bo Mitchell and John Ray Clemmons, both of the Memphis area, wrote a letter to goever Bill Lee, asking for immediate action on the matter. The letter asks for a 90 day moratorium on the state’s gasoline tax.
