The city of Memphis is launching a new Dumpster Days trash program in hopes of curbing an illegal dumping problem. The goal, according to Public Works Director Robert Knecht, is to provide community-based opporunities for citizens to preoperly dispose of their waste. On Saturday, crews set up on Shelby Drive and Elvis Presley Boulevard, collecting trash from residents for seven hours. The city plans to hold a dumpster days event in each council district throughout the spring and summer months.
