More controversy involving Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert, as it’s been discovered she’s now vacationing in Jamaica while the clerk’s office remains closed and mired in a massive backlog. Comptroller Jason Mumpower Tweeted Monday that Halbert’s trip “shows a lack of leadership and concern for her staff who are left behind to address the backlog without her presence.” The state comptroller’s office even issued a statement that said “We believe Halbert should not have taken this trip at a time where she was also telling the people of Shelby County that her office was working hard to catch up.”
