More progress at Tom Lee Park in Memphis, where a big addition to the downtown park is now noticeable. Construction crews have begun installing a wooden beam to the canopy that will be the centerpiece of the park. The contractor doing the work calls it an engineering marvel that’s never been seen in Memphis before. A giant crane placed the 9-thousand pound, 130 foot long wood beam into place on the Hyde Civic Canopy on Wednesday.
