Memphis Teachers Union Demands New Labor Deal

The Memphis Shelby County School system teacher’s union is demanding a new labor contract for teachers, claiming teachers are overworkered and underpaid. Several teachers told the school board Tuesdya night that it’s time to give credit where credit is due. Teachers in the state’s largest school system say they’re at a breaking point. A favorable vote from 15 percent of the union mempbership is required to begin a negotiating process with the district. The last contract for teachers was approved in 2018.
