Memphis “Safe Summer” Program Returns With New Name

The city of Memphis Safe Summer program is returning this year, which aims to keep young people out of trouble, connecting them with their families and communities. The program has previously been known as Friday Night Lights. After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, Mayor Jim Strickland said he wanted the program restarted under a new name. “Safe Summer” is a partnership between the city, community group “Memphis Gun Down” and several local churches.
