MPD Chief Speaks Publicly Regarding Tyre Nichols Death

Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis, speaking publicly for the first time regarding the Tyre Nichols death. Wednesday night, Davis said in a 4-minute youtube video that she acknowledges the firing of the five black police officers and describes the events surrounding Nichol’s death as “heinous, reckless and inhumane.” Davis said this is not just a professional failing, but a failing of basic humanity toward another individual. Davis also acknowledged that there are other MPD officers who are under investigation for policy violations, but she did not elaborate.
